(Te ha Tesednow). There is an article about Glastonbury in Somerset
by Nicholas Williams. The tor is more than five hundred feet in
height. In the past there was often water round the hill. It was like
an island. There is a tower on top of the hill. St Michael's Tower.
It's a ruin of part of the old Abbey of “Glass Island”. We have a
tor in Cornwall too. St Agnes Beacon is a hill like “Glastonbury
Tor”, but it is more than six hundred feet in height – and there
is no tower on top. There are several mines nearby. In a book b y
Craig Weatherhill, “The Promontory People” he says that the sea
was higher and St Agnes Beacon was an island. The south foot of the
hill is an old beach. If you want to see a tower in Cornwall you
could go to Roche. There is a rock with another St Michael's Tower.
The rock is more than sixty feet in height. St Michael is much loved
in high places. Behold St Michael's Mount (The Grey Rock in the
Wood)!
