Someone has written on a wall in Truro railway station. This May is an important anniversary for the station. 160 years ago the first passengers with tickets alighted on a new platform in a new station. The station today is the second building – it is a rebuild. But the station in this place was not the first in the town. Seven years before that there was another station in Higher Town, perhaps near County Hall (though that wasn’t there at that time). Nobody knows exactly where it was! There is a need nowadays of a bridge for people on foot from the road across the rails. This is Black Bridge, made of iron.
